Hi, I'm Erin

Hi there. My name is Erin, and I am the creator of The Water Spirit. I’m an earth sign- a Taurus. But I feel at peace in a body of water. Water nourishes the earth, just like it nourishes me.

The Water Spirit is the affectionate nickname that my partner gave to me while enjoying our local river.

We had gone for a quick swim on a warm summer’s day and I felt at peace.  The water of the river flowed gently past us. I smiled at my partner, and he said, “You are so calm when you’re in the river.  You’re like a little water spirit.” And just like magic, that’s how it happened.

Through The Water Spirit, I want to bring a little magic into your life.  And who couldn’t use a little more magic?  Every product is made with love, careful thought and is inspired by the natural world. I am inspired by forest walks, river paddling and wandering my own backyard.

When I am not directly interpreting nature through my craft, I am interpreting my magical tools. I use these to feel more at home with myself, within the natural cycles and to connect to my intuition. In my work, you will see the night sky, wheel of the year, astrology, tarot, pendulums, spirit boards, crystals and more.

I don’t make or sell anything that I do not use and love myself. Each quilt pattern, piece of art and handmade item is inspired by my life in nature or working the craft. Making things, connecting with nature and witching have become therapy, of sorts, for me. The Water Spirit is where these interests intersect. Thank you for coming with me on this journey. 10 FACTS ABOUT ME

  • • I am an introvert and prefer the quiet company of animals and nature.

    • I enjoy watching the seasons change, especially in my backyard and on my local trail.

    • I love the color blue. Not just any blue. You know that stormy gray, purple-y blue? The color the clouds turn as a storm rolls in? Yep, that's my color.

  • • My superpowers are moth-following and plant-petting.

    • I found the craft in my 20s during a rough patch. I’m now in my 40s, but still find it comforting, enlightening and magical.

    • I like to make things out of plants. In April, you can find me laying in the grass collecting violets for violet syrup. Yes, it’s delicious.

  • • I will literally stop anything I am doing to snap a photo of a moth, plant or mushroom.

    • Not to brag, but I’m pretty good at making up silly rhyming songs about nothing.
    • I’ve learned to love gin (thanks, pandemic). Hey, it’s made from plants!

    • My life goal is to buy my feline familiars a cat wheel and watch them go crazy. It’s the simple things, right?
